Italian EDM producer Giorgio Moroder, a four-time GRAMMY award winner, is set to release his first full length studio album in over 30 years with the help of huge pop names including Sia, Foxes, and Britney Spears.
For the lead offering from the upcoming not-yet-titled project, Moroder has unleashed the sparkling, disco-laced collaboration "Right Here, Right Now", featuring the iconic sultry vocals of everyone's favorite dance goddess Kylie Minogue.
The new track, which leaked in its entirely this past weekend, is a delicious, pulsating pop number where Minogue takes the reins of Moroder's throwback disco age production. After being brought back into prominence with the success of Daft Punk's last album release, it appears the producer has something he wants to prove. He still has it. The infectious new track is solid evidence of that fact.
"Right Here, Right Now" is a fun, energetic, club track. Moroder may be responsible for the release, but all eyes are on Miss Minogue. The song is a little something different for the "Into the Blue" songstress. Unlike the gems found on her last studio album, Minogue finds herself surrounded in funky, electronic beats instead of the sugary pop formula she has grown accustomed to the last few years. In her eyes, it's a throwback track as well, recalling the sound and style of 2001s critically acclaimed Fever.
The release is quite simple actually, as far as intricately produced disco/EDM/pop music goes. The production and vocal performance are strong and convincing, leading up to the euphoric, carefree nature of the song's intriguing chorus. "Staring in your eyes, I see the sunrise, there's nowhere else but right here, right now," Minogue seductively coos on the lively production. It's a message that would not sound out of place on a dancefloor or blasting through the speakers of every car window. This release is a radio-ready, funk/pop number deserving of attention.
For his first full release in 30 years, Moroder is not holding back. "Right Here, Right Now" is a solid lead single, Minogue sounds cool and comfortable and the producer appears to be getting back into the swing of things. Disco for a new generation!
