Tamara Ecclestone's husband Jay Rutland has said today that 'nothing will dampen our festive spirit', despite the £50 million raid on their London home.

The 38-year-old posted an image on Instagram with a caption saying that 'more important than any possessions' his family were safe following the burglary in which diamond earrings as well as Rolex, Hublot and Cartier watches were stolen.

Previously his father-in-law, former Formula One supremo and billionaire tycoon, Bernie Ecclestone, told MailOnline that the theft form their £70 million west London home may have been an 'inside job'.

The couple were in Lapland, Finland, when they were told about the theft of jewels from their home in Kensington on Friday night.

They have been staying in a luxury Alpine ski resort in Bern, Switzerland, for a five-day break over the Christmas period, where their five-year-old daughter, Sophia, was taken to meet Santa.

Mr Rutland also posted a clip of ITV's Lorraine Kelly discussing the raid on Tuesday, where the presenter said she 'couldn't understand' why they would have so many valuables in their home.

Lorraine added: 'Just get it all from Claire's Accessories and nobody will want to steal it' and suggested their social media posts from Lapland signposted their empty mansion.'

But Mr Rutland hit back on Instagram saying: 'Cheers Lorraine. I hope you never have the misfortune to be robbed'.

Mr Rutland also criticised another presenter, Kate Thornton, who had commented on the burglary as well.

Saudi widow has £6m of designer watches and jewellery stolen in raid not far from Tamara Ecclestone's home

The day before the raid at Tamara Ecclestone's home a Saudi widow had £6 million worth of watches and jewellery stolen from her west London home.

Burglars forced their way into a fourth-floor flat in Knightsbridge, around a mile from the Ecclestone's mansion, on Thursday.

The owner of the £5million flat in Lowndes Square lost Cartier earrings and necklace, as well as a Chanel necklace valued at around £100,000.

A Bulgari watch and Van Cleef jewellery worth about £255,000 were also taken, according to the Sun

In the lengthy message, Mr Rutland said he 'truly hope you never have to experience having your homes ransacked and violated', adding that his daughter had been asking if the raiders were going to come back.

He wrote on social media: 'It's Christmas and when we have an excited 5 year old, nothing is going to dampen our festive spirit. Strange few days but as a family we move forward with our heads up and a smile.

'We are all safe and that is more important that any possessions...And to the people that want to laugh about what's happened, like @lorrainekellysmith and @thekatethornton, I truly hope you never have to experience having your homes ransacked and violated.

'Perhaps if you heard my daughter asking if the burglars are going to come back you might have a little more empathy. Peace.'

Ms Thornton had commented on a photograph that Ms Ecclestone had posted on Instagram of her daughter boarding a private jet to Lapland hours before the burglary.

She wrote: 'Maybe the moral of the story is, if you've got £50 million of jewels at home, don't let people know you're not there.'

Mr Rutland also posted a cryptic meme on social media saying: 'When the grass is cut, the snakes will show.'

On Tuesday Ms Ecclestone, 35, kitted Sophia out with new skis, poles and boots as the Formula One heiress and her husband Mr Rutland, put the jewellery raid behind her.

Strolling through the centre of Gstaad, the millionaire family put on a united front in the exclusive Swiss resort while investigations continue into how their £70 million home was burgled.

The family stopped to buy a toy from a street-side vending machine and chatted with other holiday makers as they walked with their dog Teddy along the street.

Gstaad is an Alpine resort popular with the rich and famous with 105 km of ski runs, six toboggan runs and 47 ski lifts.

However the Bernese Oberland mountain range, which includes Gstaad, is currently unseasonably warm with day-time temperatures reaching 10 degrees centigrade.

Earlier, wrapped up warm in a knee-length fur coat and winter boots, Ms Ecclestone flew into Bern by private jet from their Christmas holiday in Lapland - before being whisked by helicopter to the luxury Alps ski resort.

The family – including Teddy – are expected to spend Christmas in the luxury resort where the family own a spectacular ski house, named Chalet Bernie after her father.

The couple began their festive break in Lapland, where they were informed about the burglary at their £70 million home in Kensington, west London, on Friday night.

Despite the bad news, they continued to enjoy themselves, frolicking in the Lapland snow and posing for photographs with reindeers before arriving in Switzerland determined not to let the theft ruin their Christmas holiday.

The heiress broke her silence today over the raid as she posted a picture of her and daughter meeting Santa with the message: 'We will continue full of love.'

Three raiders reportedly broke into Ms Ecclestone's 57-room mansion through the garden before heading straight to the safes and spending around 50 minutes in the house, which is located on one of London's most exclusive roads.

Tamara, the daughter of billionaire former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone, has two engagement rings, worth £250,000 each, but it is not known if these were taken.

She also has several sets of diamond stud earrings valued at around £50,000 per pair and a large watch collection including Rolex, Hublot and Cartier pieces worth up to £100,000 a pop.

The gang were able to smash open several bedroom safes and fled via an open window despite a guard sitting in a CCTV room and the mansion being run by up to 50 staff.

Ms Ecclestone was said to be in 'complete devastation and shock' after the precious gems were stolen from her London home.

Neighbours were also shocked at Friday night's break-in, which took place on one of the most prestigious streets in London with 24-hour security patrols and checkpoints.

Guards are also believed to be present at all times inside the property, where Ms Ecclestone lives with Mr Rutland.

Bernie believes the theft from his eldest daughter's high security Billionaires' Row mansion was an inside job.

The former F1 supremo fears she has been betrayed after the three burglars were able to spend so long at the west London home.

One security guard who was supposed to be guarding the property went to fill his car with petrol at 10pm on the night of the heist.

A second security guard was meant to be monitoring CCTV cameras in the control room.

The family had just boarded a private jet for Lapland suggesting the timing of the raid hours later could be no coincidence.

Mr Ecclestone told MailOnline: 'I don't have all the facts but given all the security at the house, I'm assuming it was an inside job.

'It's an awful thing to happen just after she had left the house to go to Lapland. Although maybe it's better that she wasn't in at the time'.

He added: 'I've tried to call her this morning to see what the latest is but I couldn't get through.'

Scotland Yard has not yet made any arrests but one line of inquiry for detectives will be if the thieves were helped by someone on the inside who knew the family were away and where their safes were hidden.

Police are said to have an 'open mind' about whether this Instagram photo of Ms Ecclestone's daughter Sophia and their dog Teddy boarding a private in the hours before the £50m burglary may have tipped off the raiders to an empty mansion
